Acts of the Apostles 13:26-33
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. John 14:1
Lord, always aware of the concerns and worries of your disciples, you calmed their fears. You probably saw the anxiety in their eyes as they looked to you for answers and comfort at your final Passover meal. Without knowing the details they knew something was soon to happen to you. You washed their feet, fed them with the bread of life and assured them you would prepare a place for them in heaven. You promised to return and take them to their eternal home. They must have gotten strength from your calming and reassuring words. Lord, look into my heart too and heal what you find there. I have hope in you as my Savior and Lord. But I too can be troubled by affliction and difficulties to come. Maybe I am now in pain from disease or a broken relationship. Maybe I can see no way to avoid coming suffering. I am encouraged to know you are “the way and the truth and the life.” It is comforting that the trials of this life are temporary and will build up my faith for eternity. Hear my prayer today, dear Jesus, for I trust in you. Amen.
